About KATANA

KATANA has several missions, but we shall always lead with Art is the Way. We believe that art is one of the few forms that speaks for itself. It has the capability to speak to the heart, to the part of us that feels, and thus holds the power to create change and compassion, carving a path that leads us toward a more beautiful, expressive future.

KATANA values art that pushes past the constraints of what it is to be an artist, and what it means to create with vision and authenticity. KATANA was founded by Alexandra Marie Moreno, a Poet, Author, Artist, and Sensual Performer. She named KATANA after the samurai sword, built with grace and precision, as well as after her dog Katana, an unruly Doberman. KATANA holds both beauty and darkness as one. Her weaknesses become her strengths, her shadows become the path to illumination. Alexandra does not hide her past; instead, she uses each piece as a stepping stone, a piece of her puzzle, to create art that inspires the embracement of one’s highest potential.

Prior to founding KATANA, Alexandra wrote her debut novel Beautifully Chaotic on the two years she worked as a stripper, witnessing firsthand the injustices of sex work, coercion, trafficking, and power dynamics that have yet to be challenged within the industry. In writing her debut novel, she shares a not-often-heard perspective: finding liberation in escaping society. Expressing her sensuality in a world where it is often repressed led her not only to discovering her passions, but most importantly, to finding her voice. Alexandra’s mission is to humanize sex workers, to fight and raise awareness for trafficked victims, to speak out against injustice, while simultaneously supporting the autonomy and expression of women, people, and sensuality—especially those of marginalized voices.

KATANA’s mission is to raise the value of art, of self-expression, and of our presence —attracting those who crave something deeper, who wish to be a part of something larger than themselves. To be a part of a movement where our value is seen as limitless, our expression holds no boundaries, and Art leads the Way toward a more beautiful future.
